From Harvester Brewing:

Harvester Brewing is pleased to announce the release of this year’s Squash Ale made with locally-grown squash that was harvested and roasted by the team at Harvester Brewing.

The squash came from the fields of Harvester’s friends at Love Farm Organics (46125 NW Hillside Rd. Forest Grove, OR 97116) and was cellared an additional week in Harvester’s gastropub to achieve peak flavor. The harvest was then sliced, diced, seeded and roasted in the high tech oven at Jensen’s Bread & Bakeries (3420 SE 21st Ave. Portland, OR 97202), a dedicated gluten-free bakery in the brewery’s neighborhood. The seeds of the pumpkins were roasted, crushed, and added to the mash.

Squash Ale is ‘Triple Squashed’ with squash added in the mash tun, kettle, and fermenter. The fermenter addition was slow roasted for five days into a squash butter. This Squash Ale has been lightly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and toasted coriander to complement the squash flavors and aromas without overpowering the beer.

The beer will be released on draft, Thursday, November 7th at Harvester’s own gastropub, and will be available to-go by growler or bottle. Chef Neil will be crafting several food pairings to complement the beer. Bottles will start rolling out to store shelves in Oregon and Washington next week.

Chef Neil, cleaver in hand, selects the next squash to be diced.
