From Harpoon:
After weeks of formulating recipes, brewing beers, tasting entries, and lobbying for votes, Harpoon employees have decided the winner of the Kettle Cup. This year’s coveted prize goes to “The Citrettes” for their Citra A** Down entry, a Pale Ale brewed with loads of fresh grapefruit and Citra hops. Ladies from various departments at the brewery (Merrill Maloney, Shannon Cudmore, Lindsay Kick, Jessie Cox, Carolyn Orth, and Liz Melby) along with Harpoon brewers (Brian Martyniak and Mike Gallagher) distanced themselves from the competition with this amazing beer, and a little help from their fierce, persuasive trash talking.
We’ll now get to work on bringing this beer to shelves in 2014 as part of the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series. Stay tuned for details on a release date. And while we love the current name, “Citra A** Down”, we were made aware that it’s already been used by another (very clever!) brewer…. We’ll be tossing around new names in coming weeks and we'll let you know when one of them sticks. In the meantime, let’s raise a pint to the champs!
