From Iron Hill:

PHOENIXVILLE, PA – On Saturday, July 13 beginning at 2 p.m., Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant (130 East Bridge Street, 610-983-9333) will host their annual BLOB-Fest, celebrating the Phoenixville-filmed horror classic The BLOB.  The film, which will be shown at nearby Colonial Theatre (227 Bridge Street, 610-917-0223), is the inspiration for Head Brewer Tim Stumpf’s Red Cherry BLOB witbier, as well as fun menu of BLOB-y beers, snacks and plates and a tin foil hat contest.

“Each year, Phoenixville celebrates the cult-classic movie The BLOB and just keeps getting better and better, so we’re thrilled to be a part of the fun,” says Stumpf.

The featured beers will include:  Red Cherry BLOB, a dark imperial witbier brewed with sweet Oregon cherries;  Dirty Weisse, a wheat beer blended at the tap with a touch of Lindeman’s Framboise, a sweet-and-sour Belgian-style raspberry beer;  Monster Barleywine is a traditional brown, English-style Barleywine with intense, complex malt sweetness and a sherry-like quality, full-bodied with balanced bitterness and a warm finish;  and Bridge St. Bock, a traditional full-bodied, amber German lager with distinct malty and bready characteristics in aroma and flavor with a clean and dry finish.

The beers will pair beautifully with the BLOB menu items, will include:  BLOBster Bisque with inside-out lobster raviolis;  Bloody Mary Blob Salad with mesclun greens, candied bacon, celery sticks, carrots avocado, bell peppers and served with a blue cheese dressing;  Macaroni and Cheese Blobs, fried macaroni and cheese, applewood smoked bacon, served with a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce;   Beer Braised Meatblob, fettuccini pasta, parmesan cheese, spinach and served with a Vienna-tomato sauce;  Pan Roasted Salmon served with a cauliflower cream blob, charred scallions and saffron-almond sauce.  Grilled New York Strip Steak TV Dinner with a cheddar laced potato croquette, buttered sugar snap peas, horseradish infused cream sauce and a lemon bar.  Dishes will range in price from $6.50 to $28.95.

As part of a long-standing tradition during Phoenixville’s BLOB fest, Iron Hill invites all customers to bring their best Tin Foil Hat creations (to wear in order to ward off any aliens trying to read their minds) for the chance to win a $100 gift card.  The contest kicks off at 7 p.m.
