Denver, CO, June 25, 2013/mbb/… As the summer reaches its boiling point Breckenridge Brewery of Colorado heats up to celebrate its 23rd Anniversary Hootenanny with a Kalamath Street block party Saturday, July 13, from noon to 6 p.m. The celebration will feature a diverse collection of specialty beers, barbecue and an all-Colorado music lineup, with live performances by Head for the Hills, Colorado Goat Ropers Guild, Marty Jones & the Great Unknowns and a few special surprise guests that will be in attendance.

“We’ve made it through another year, and what a year it’s been!” said Breckenridge Brewery’s Brewmaster and Brewery Director J. Todd Usry. “We made extensive expansions in our production facility, introduced some new markets to our Breckenridge beers, and announced the plans for our new home in Littleton. Now it’s time to celebrate and thank our devout beer drinkers with the party of the summer.”

This year the party space has been expanded to include the entire block of Kalamath between Fourth and Fifth avenues, allowing for additional attendees and extra room for dancing. Breckenridge Brewery will be serving up a diverse collection of beers, including one-of-a-kind firkins featuring Oatmeal Stout aged with orange and chocolate and two interpretations of SummerBright, one dry hopped with Sorachi Ace hops and one dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops. Belgian interpretations of Breckenridge mainstays will include Belgian Double IPA, Barrel Aged Belgian Oatmeal Stout and Double Belgian Agave Wheat. Finally, party-goers can enjoy “471 On the Moon,” three-quarters 471 IPA and one-quarter Oatmeal Stout, aged in a cabernet barrel. The delicious result is a beer with citrus notes from the hops, chocolate and roasted notes from the stout, and wood with a bit of sweetness from the wine barrel.

Music will play nonstop throughout the afternoon, beginning with Marty Jones & the Great Unknowns. Jones has been stomping out barn rock and true-grit country since 1997. Together with his band, they blend early country, hillbilly bop and back porch blues and rock into a beer-soaked hybrid.

The entertainment will continue with the Colorado Goat Ropers Guild combining country, rock, folk and roots music with pop sensibilities to create their own version of Americana which they refer to as “cosmic country.” With lyrics echoing hope and loss, the music is said to have the wood stove comfort of an old mountain cabin, reminding listeners to “kick it back” and “kick ‘em up.”

Head for the Hills will take the stage as the party reaches its peak. Named “Best of Colorado” at the Westword Music Showcase and former winner of Yonder Mountain String Band’s Northwest String Summit Band Competition, the group is rooted in the tradition of bluegrass but with a progressive acoustic/modern sound. The band produces a vibrant mixture of homegrown compositions, traditional harmonies and improvisation and has performed at music festivals throughout the U.S.

Tickets for the 23rd Anniversary Hootenanny are $23 and include four Breckenridge Brews, unlimited tasters of rare and unique beers brewed especially for the festivity and a barbecue lunch from the Pig Roast with all the fixings. Additional beers are available for $2 each. Kids younger than 12 receive free admission. Designated drivers and youth ages 12 to 20 are welcome at $10 each.
