Rochester, NY - Three Heads Brewing

(3HB) is beyond proud to relaunch one of their favorite beers, Blimey India Pale Ale. Blimey is the third new beer introduced in 2013 and marks Three Head’s first re-release from their ever-expanding slate of liquid love.

The original Blimey was one of the first beers that the Three Heads trio ever brewed, born from their efforts as faithful homebrewers over seven years. This English Strong Bitter-induced India Pale Ale wunderkind went on to win several coveted homebrewing awards and served as a major catalyst for the crew to make the jump to commercial production.

When Three Heads did decide to brew commercially, they faced a dilemma in offering Blimey as an India Pale Ale. 3HB was already looking to offer two classic India Pale Ale styles, with The Kind IPA and Skunk Black IPA. So Blimey was brewed as a more traditional Pale Ale/English Style Bitter (ESB) in order to add variety to 3HB’s initial launch in December 2010.

Despite critical and public affection, Three Heads made the difficult decision to shelve the original Blimey a year into its run. While tremendously proud of the release, the withdrawal of Blimey from production was ultimately the acknowledgment they had not fulfilled their own high expectations for one of their oldest and most important beers.

Twelve releases later, Three Heads is ready to present fans their true vision with the release of Blimey as an India Pale Ale. At first glance, Blimey IPA seems to pay sweet homage to its earlier incarnation, showcasing the same deep copper and gold notes indicative of the previous version. The nose first hints of a calculated departure, with an escalation of citrus, spice and floral notes. A big hop foundation prevails, sitting atop a toasty malt profile redolent with toffee. The flavors are strikingly complex and the mouthfeel is sublime.

True to the design of the original homebrew version, Blimey IPA is craft beer at its finest as it combines the original malt structure of a traditional English Ale along with latent American originality.

Blimey now officially joins the ranks of Three Heads India Pale Ales including Three Heads The Kind IPA, Skunk Black IPA, Ontario Coast Belgian Style IPA, and Too Kind Double IPA.

The new Blimey India Pale Ale will soon be available in 22oz bottles and on draft wherever you enjoy your other favorite 3HB beer.
