Some exciting distribution news for Susquehanna Brewing as they expand west in Pennsylvania with Westy’s Beer Distributor.  Details from Westy’s:

Camp Hill, PA -- 28 Feb 2013/mbb/Westy’s Beer Distributor, Inc. has come to terms to distribute the technically innovative beer labels of Susquehanna Brewing Company. The formation of this partnership will allow the Camp Hill, PA distributor to work directly with Pittston, PA’s up and coming craft brewery. Westy’s joins Penn Distributing and Gretz Beer Company as Pennsylvania’s third and only independent Importing Distributor for all Susquehanna Brewing brands.

“The technical expertise of brewmaster Jaime Jurado is truly world class”, remarked Westy’s Sales Manager Paul McGee.. “I’m a huge fan of this brewery and the people behind it.”

Why does their beer taste so good? Susquehanna Brewing utilizes a unique milling process known as Endosperm mashing where the husks are separated from the endosperm and added later in the process. The idea is to further reduce the tannin extraction from the husks by limiting their presence in the wort. The results are exceptionally smooth and clean tasting beers.

“In the Central PA market, Susquehanna will immediately bolster a severely lacking craft- lager category”, commented Westy’s GM George Bradley. “SBC beers are as technically sound as I’ve ever seen. They’re not just throwing in extra ingredients to mask off-flavors in their products like a lot of other brands you see coming to the market as of late. SBC is truly a world-class operation the whole way around and you can expect that reputation to grow for years to come.”

Susquehanna Brewing was founded in 2010 by Mark Nobile and Fred Maier formerly of United Beverage. They are joined by Fred’s son Ed Maier (Charles Stegmaier's great-grandson). Jaime Jurado  joined Susquehanna Brewing Co., as the company’s first brew master in January, 2012. He previously served as the Director of Brewing Operations for the Gambrinus Company from 1997-2012, and is a Past President of the Master Brewers' Association of the Americas.

Draft and packaged offerings of Susquehanna Brewing products will be available to all licensees through Westy’s Distribution network of the following counties: Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, and York. Tentative launch events and promotions are slated to begin in mid to late March throughout the captial region.

Central PA retail partners and beer enthusiasts are encouraged to contact George Bradley at Westy's Beer Distributor, at (717) 737-2621 or by e-mail at westysbeer@gmail.com for further information.
