Troegs Scratch # 49 & Harrisburg Tasting Room Closing

TroegsScratchFrom Troegs:

After 14 wonderfully exciting years in Harrisburg we will close the Tasting Room with a bang – the release of Scratch #49, a wet hop ale – on Friday, October 7. We should have the beer on tap when we open at 10 a.m. Cases and six-packs will be available as soon as the beer comes off the line.

UPDATE 10/5:

TASTING ROOM UPDATE: Harrisburg Tour Schedule
If the walls of our Tasting Room could talk there would be a never-ending supply of hilarious stories and great memories. In Tröegs’ early days we would sit in that room on Saturday afternoons hoping someone would come in. Many of those early customers still remain and we’ve made new one as well – so much so we expanded the room three times to welcome... you. Thanks for all your business over the last fourteen years. It has been a pleasure to serve you. We look forward to showing off the new digs in a few weeks and hope that we don’t have to deal with crazy snaking lines around the tasting room ever again. We will miss everything about Paxton Street – except the occasional flood waters! The Tasting Room will officially close on Saturday, October 8, at 4 p.m.

Scratch 49 Release on Friday, October 7!!
SCRATCH BEER #49
O.G.: 17.5
... ABV: 7.2%
IBUs: 65
Malt: Pils, Wheat
Fresh Hops: Citra
Hops: Amarillo, Palisade, Nugget
Yeast: House Ale
Juju: Honey
Codename: Fresh Hop Ale
As the codename implies, the main flavor in Scratch #49 is 100 pounds of fresh Citra hops. This year's Oregon hop harvest took place in mid-September and we received the freshest, wettest Citra hops right off the vine.
Opening the boxes of fresh hops, we were blown away at the strength and color of this Oregonian green gold. Our hopback was not large enough to accommodate all the hops so we added them to the lauter tun and ran the hot wort through the hops.
Pouring a cloudy gold-orange color, Scratch #49 yields an arresting blend of ripe peach aroma with just enough bitterness to balance the sweetness imparted by the honey. Kettle additions of Amarillo and Palisade hops nicely complement the fresh hops.
As this beer is a celebration of hops at their freshest, drink this one as soon as possible for maximum enjoyment.
