Today we have the first peek at the 12.7oz bottle packaging for three new beers from Allagash Brewing…Coolship Red, Coolship Cerise and Coolship Resurgam. Coolship Red is a “spontaneous” ale aged in oak barrels with raspberries (5.7% ABV). Coolship Cerise is an ale aged in oak barrels with Maine-grown cherries (8.1% ABV), and Coolship Resurgam is an un-fruited ale (blend of older and younger “spontaneous” beer) aged in oak barrels (6.6% ABV). Allagash also received keg approval today for all of these except Resurgam. Resurgam won a Silver medal at GABF 2010 & we should note that a “coolship” is “a large shallow pan used to cool wort overnight using outside air temperature. During the cooling process, naturally occurring (aka spontaneous) yeast from the air inoculates the wort.” More details can be found here.
