Lots of details here for this new Avery Brewing Barrel Aged series # 8. This new brew just approved a few minutes ago is called Meretrix Barrel-Aged Sour Ale…brewed with sour cherries and aged in Cabernet Sauvignon Barrels. looks like this 9.97% ABV brew will be bottled in a limited run of 83 cases and bottled in 12oz packaging in early June 2011. From the label: “No. 8 she’s patiently awaited you for two years. Aging gracefully in beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon barrels and accompanied by sour cherries, your Meretrix is now eager to serve….55 cases shared 28 hoarded.”…and yes this is a Brett beer. Wiki=A meretrix, in Medieval Europe, was understood as any woman held in common, who “turned no one away.”
