Back in 2005, Mrs BeerBuzz & I toured the Canadian Maritimes, so we managed to bring back a lot of “Keith’s” in our bellies. Back then Keith’s IPA (a less-than-hoppy Pale Ale) and a draft-only Keith’s Red were widely available. Since then Keith’s also markets a White, Red Amber, Dark, & Light, so it was fun today to see label approval for Keith’s Brown Ale, Lager and Pale Ale. While we did tour the original 1820 Brewery in Halifax, NS, since that time Keith’s was purchased by Labatts, a subsidiary of Anheuser Busch. These new beers will be 12oz bottles, 5.4% ABV and brewed in St Louis, MO.

Labatt acquired the Alexander Keith label in 1971 when they bought the Oland's & Sons brewing company. Oland had bought Alexander Keith in the 1920's.
