We had a little Hoppy Hour tasting party at the mybeerbuzz residence on Friday, and just for fun we did a blind IPA-ish challenge. It was a lot of fun to see people sample some great IPA’s without the benefit of knowing what they were tasting. And before anyone comments, yes I know they are not all completely considered to be an IPA. Anyway here’s a little snapshot of the bottles. Also before you ask who the winner was, I’ll simply say that all of us who were lucky enough to enjoy all of these great beers, were the winners.
great time had by all, was won the door prize?
ReplyDeleteMOOSE....
There was no direct acorn drop other than the potato chips, so there was no clear winner of the door prizes...so I sent them home with Mark & Chris
ReplyDeleteI'll say it -- Who won??
ReplyDeleteWe did a blind stout tasting once at a good friend's house, and it was VERY interesting to watch some highly regarded beers score lower then many have rated on BA.
As I said...we all won...hard to pick a bad (or the best) beer in the bunch. I love them all...but if you stranded me on a desert island and said choose one IPA.... the caged-2x would probably be my choice. We drank a case of caged-2x at the beach and it was fantastic every time we opened one. With that said I'm also a huge fan of Nugget & Hopslam, and I'll never turn down a Torpedo, Racer or 2-hearted...and you'd be surprised how good the Yards and Anniversary are too. Tough competition...I'll tell you more results the next time I see you....it was a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteCall me Bias to my next door brewery, but Caged Simcoe is out of control. I WISH purchased more.
ReplyDeleteI love the caged 2x also and there will be more opportunities to buy it in the future. I did forget to mention we end the challenge we opened 2 bottles of Pliny the Elder but we didn't hid the label. You'd be surprised how well Caged 2x stands up to Pliny...but of course Pliny was still wonderful.
