I've heard from one of our west coast fellow beer-lovers about a great beer site she created a few years ago. Say you're out of town and in need of a beer, but you don't know where to go. Sure there are plenty of websites out there that let you search and find local beer no matter where you are, but how far is this brewpub from my hotel, or how can I get directions to get there. Pubquest allows you to search and find beer bars & brewpubs no matter where you are AND maps those locations at the same time so you can find your way there (and hopefully back).
I spoke to Julie, one of the creators of pubquest, and she was also quick to point out another advantage of their site. Many beer search engines search very specifically on the city, but say you don't know the area that well. You search on a city, but there could be a great brewpub close by, but you don't know the area well enough to know that nearby city name. Pubquest maps everything nearby the city you choose as well.
