Chip the Beer Guy Rock 107 - Budweiser American Ale

Today we did what I'd like to call the "Deserted Island" beer tasting. Imagine if you will....you're stuck in the middle of nowhere, with no food, no shelter and an overwhelming urge to do a beer tasting. So what do you do...well you dig around and lo and behlod you find a bottle of Bud and a bottle of the new Bud American Ale. Viola, a beer tasting. Now forgive me if I sound silly and of course I'm certainly planning to try the Bud American Ale, but this strikes me as a rating that will fall between "ick" and "not quite awful." I applaud Bud for trying, and I'm sure they are very talented brewers (especially where rice is concerned), but please don't think anyone at Bud is doing this because they love craft brewing or because they are reaching out to craft brew lovers....nope, they're doing this because there's money to be had. In fact this is the first week ever where I thought the beer of the week at Grotto was NOT worth the $2.50 special they charge.

OK so enough cynical beer guy. The most important part of the show today is of course the reminder to get out to Chip's birthday party at Purv's Beer & More and featuring One Guy Brewing next Friday 9/26. As far as a quote of the day I'll go with the Bud American Ale being not quite a Pale Ale but "touching a Pale Ale." I have visions of my poor little Pale Ale being molested and "touched" in an un-natural way by the big Budweiser (down you damn cynical beer guy!). Cheers guys...funny as usual.

Oh yea...linky to the podcast is HERE.

  1. Got a good chuckle with your poor little pale ale getting touched inappropriately by the Bud American Ale. I guess your poor little pale ale's plea of ``this butt's not for you'' went unheeded. Keep up the good posts.
