I always love the generic beers and I always wonder if the label is intentionally designed to look generic, or the design is simply part of the overall small budget. Here we have Home Light Beer in the 12oz size.

Pretty sure that HOME LIGHT was a private label brand for the HOME LIQUORS chain in northeast New Jersey (a quick Google turns up a few stores still around in Newark, Hackensack, Verona, etc.)
ReplyDeleteI found an old ad (circa late 1970's) from a sales circular from the chain in an old file folder. Unfortunately, no prices (illegal at the time in NJ) but a few interesting brands- including HOME, BARTEL's and Pittsburgh short-lived super-premium SIERRA, and someone's OLD GERMAN (there were 3 different OG's sold in NJ around then, from Yuengling, Pittsburgh and Eastern. By the looks of the package mix, 12 & 16 oz. cans and 12 ND bottles, I'd guess Pittsburgh).
Will send a cleaned up jpeg to your email address.
Interesting...thanks Jess.
