Oskar Blues Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut Returns 12/9

Oskar Blues Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut Returns 12/9From Oskar Blues:

We’re not saying Rum Death By Coconut was invented by an island-dwelling cult that worshipped the biggest nuts in the world and sacrificed offlanders by drowning them in liquid chocolate…but we’re not NOT saying it, ya know? In reality, Rum DBC does inspire a bit of a cult and we’re happy to supply those freaks with rummy, coconutty, chocolatey goodness (don’t drown though). Time for the reckoning.

WHERE:

  • The Oak Room at Oskar Blues Brewery, Longmont, Colorado
  • Oskar Blues Boulder Taproom, Boulder, Colorado
  • Oskar Blues Tasty Weasel Taproom, Brevard, North Carolina

WHAT: Rum Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut is aged in barrels for nine months until it has the right amount of rum-soaked oak, molasses, vanilla, coconut, and chocolate goodness derived from the wood.  Then, it is racked and swirled together with dessicated coconut, coconut cream, and pure liquid cacao from Cholaca to create a beer so layered and complex that you’ll feel brainwashed. Such a filthy mind – maybe you needed your brain washed. Rum B.A. Death By Coconut will ONLY be available for a SINGLE DAY from our CO (Longmont & Boulder) and NC taprooms.

WHEN: December 9 at 9:30 a.m. We have a feeling that a line might begin to form much earlier, but we’ll start giving out numbered wristbands at 9:30am. These wristbands will allow you to walk around and not worry about losing your place in line. We know what you’re thinking: THAT EARLY ON A SATURDAY? I’LL BE HURTIN! We get it. Us too. To ease the pain of the wee hours we’ll be slingin’ breakfast foods. Did we mention there’d be coffee? Hotbox Roasters will be on scene to satisfy your other addiction. All sales (draft and cans) will begin at 10am.

WHY: The cult demands it.

Now for the specifics + FAQ’s:

Does this number on my wristband really matter? Hell yes! We will go in order so please be available when your number is called so we can keep things rolling and we don’t miss ya! You must be present to get yer beer.

Is there a limit to how many 19.2 CANs I can buy? Yes. We haven’t completed production yet, so we don’t yet know what this limit will be, but there WILL BE A LIMIT. Remember, 19.2 oz cans come in 12-count cases. If we have cans left at 4 p.m. (both MST and EST) then a “No Limit” rule kicks in and you will be able to purchase more. Don’t bet on this…but if it happens, now you know.

Why only a limited amount? To make sure more people get a chance to taste this rare liquid. Spread it around, ya know? Grow the cult.

Will Rum DBC be on draft? Yep, we’ll have a limited amount of draft for purchase and sampling. Wanna get in on a special draft-only preview BEFORE the can release? Hit up the Boulder, CO taproom on 12/7 for a tapping at 6PM.

How much does the beer cost?

4 oz pour on DRAFT = $4

10 oz pour on DRAFT = $10

One CAN of Rum Death By Coconut = $12.50

One CASE (12 CANs) = $150

Can I fill a Crowler or a growler? Nah, sorry!

Even with, like, Dale’s? Nope. Due to the expected crowds and everyone’s anticipated desire to have everything run as smooth as a porpoise, we’re going to be putting away our Crowler machine for the day.

What if I can’t be there on Saturday but still want to try some of the beer? Rum Death By Coconut will only be available on this one day. We MIGHT still have some on DRAFT on Sunday…it’s hard to say. Call your local Tasty Weasel taproom and ask one of the beertenders…they’ll let ya know. (their extension is 316 when you call the brewery)

How can I pay for this? Cash (USD) or credit/debit card. No checks, please.
