Sierra Nevada Releases Hoptimum 2017

imageFrom Sierra Nevada:

2017 Hoptimum has a new recipe! We lowered the bitterness and changed the hop schedule. Coming in at 9.6% ABV and 65 IBU, 2017 Hoptimum has huge tropical and citrus aroma from Citra, Simcoe, and Chinook hops. This beer is amazingly hoppy and delicious, and it's on shelves now...we lowered the bitterness but the beer is as hoppy as ever. One way to think about IBU is as a ratio to final gravity, rather than IBU as a stand-alone number. 40 IBU in a Pilsner would be quite hoppy, but you wouldn't really notice the 40 IBU in an Imperial Stout. We feel like the 65 IBUs perfectly balances bitterness against the gravity and alcohol of this beer. Plus, it delivers huge hop flavor and aroma.
