Pisgah Celebrating 9th Annual Hog Stout Day With New Mole Stout

Pisgah Brewing Company started their own holiday in 2009 when they decided to add a beer connoisseur’s twist to the nationally recognized holiday surrounding Punxsutawney Phil and his shadow, Groundhog Day.  Traditionally beer lovers unite over the darkest and heaviest of craft brews as the temperatures drop, so the Pisgah brewers developed their own reason to celebrate with a glass full of stout, Stout Hog Day.  The tradition has evolved over the years, now targeting Super Bowl Sunday as the setting for an early afternoon brewer’s breakfast with a wall full of dark beers.

Pisgah Brewing is unveiling a new beer for their holiday weekend on Friday, February 3rd in their taproom, the Pisgah Mole Stout. This robust brew combines a massive grain-bill of 5 organic roasted malts with brewer’s oats, then ages on raw cocoa nibs from French Broad Chocolate Factory, raw Madagascar vanilla beans, raw cinnamon and fire roasted Guajillo, Habanero and Anchillo peppers. Pisgah Mole Stout will be available in 22oz bottles in the Taproom starting at 2pm on February 3rd, and will remain on draught through the Stout Hog holiday weekend as well.

The 9th Annual Stout Hog Day will kick off at 12pm on February 5th, and will feature a taproom full of stouts and darks with some of Pisgah's finest darker brews as well as a special collection of local and sought after stouts.   18+ of the Pisgah taps will turn into stouts or darker brews, 9 of which will be Pisgah’s own recipes. Included in the mix of Pisgah darks will be the GABF gold medal winning Chocolatized, Valdez, Mtn County Stout and the new Mole Stout.

The new Stout Hog Day tradition born in 2014 features the Brewer's Breakfast, a full early afternoon of free pancakes for all (while supplies last) prepared by the brewers and staff themselves for their loyal fans.  The Mountain View BBQ food truck will also be on-site preparing breakfast additions for purchase to go along with the free pancakes. Music is always in the recipe at Pisgah Brewing, so the Stout Hog Day house-band Chalwa will bring the roots reggae vibes throughout the afternoon.
