Hill Farmstead Port Damon Coming 1/4

imageFrom Hill Farmstead:

On Wednesday, January 4, we welcome in the New Year with the release of a beer in remembrance of Damon!

Port Damon

375ml, $20 per bottle, 1 bottle limit per person (credit card and matching ID required, please see our bottle release policy).

Port Damon is an imperial stout aged in port barrels.

Damon (1993 - 2004).  The time spent with loved ones, now lost, seems to affect our mind and body perpetually; memories happen upon us, unsuspectingly, and bring about tears of fond remembrance.  Damon was our brother--devout and patient in an age of busyness and distraction.  In his honor, we crafted and conditioned this imperial stout in port barrels for more than 2 years.  We still reflect, daily, upon our Damon and his scruffy chin of grey--of his loyalty and his love.

Retail hours are Wednesday - Saturday, from 12pm - 5pm...

Dogfish Head Olde School Barleywine Returns 1/3

imageFrom Dogfish Head:

Milton, DE., December 30, 2016 – Dogfish Head is kicking off the New Year with a throwback release of one of its most popular seasonal beers.  Olde School Barleywine, a classic, ageable ale, will be reintroduced  into the world starting January 3, 2017, bringing unfiltered depth and fruity righteousness to worthy beer lovers across the universe, aka the clever 31 states + D.C. that sell delicious Dogfish Head Craft Brewery beers.

An instant classic since its 2002 debut, the bold, yet smooth Olde School is a beautifully balanced ale, dark red to amber in color, with a sweet and velvety flavor profile and huge complexity and warmth.  “Our approach was to do a new world take on traditional English barleywine,” says Dogfish Head president and founder, Sam Calagione.  “American style barleywines tend to be more hop-forward while, in comparison, English barleywines are malt-forward and develop their fruity attributes from the esters. When properly aged, the pit-fruit and sweet, sherry characteristics mature into something spectacular.”

Clocking in at about 15% ABV, this big barleywine is an ideal candidate for cellaring and Olde School ages with the best of  them!  Over time, the beer dries out which allows the pit fruit flavors to come forward and the hops to recede into the background.  As it matures, Olde School develops oxidative characteristics, including honey and toffee flavors and aromas, and lessened bitterness. Our recommendation to ensure liquid prosperity and happiness for the New Year?  Grab a couple bottles of Olde School to enjoy with someone you love - now and through the years.  For more information about Olde School Barleywine and Dogfish Head beers, visit www.dogfish.com

Bell’s New 12 oz. Oatsmobile Cans Coming Spring 2017

29 December 2016

imageFrom Bell’s:

COMSTOCK, MI. – Bell’s Oatsmobile is heading to the canning line in 2017.

Beginning in the spring, Bell’s hop-forward American Pale Ale will transition away from bottles as existing packaging materials are used up.

Twelve-ounce cans, packaged in six-packs, will ship to all areas Bell’s distributes to.

“Dry-hopping gives this beer incredible aroma, & the oats lend a lighter, wonderful body. It’s accessible to a variety of tastes, but still unique” said Laura Bell, Bell’s Vice President and Co-owner.

This new packaging will make it even more approachable since many places do not allow glass, especially outdoors.

Oatsmobile uses a blend of classic and modern Pacific Northwest hops. Malted oats give this session beer body that is normally not found in other lower-ABV beers.

Oatsmobile will be the sixth Bell’s beer to be offered exclusively in cans (and on draught).

It was first brewed as Oat Ale in 2013 and later as Boiling Pot Pale Ale at Bell’s original brewery in Kalamazoo.

It was released as Oatsmobile when it joined Bell’s year-round packaging lineup earlier this year.

UPDATE 31 Dec 2016:  Here’s the actual label.
