Maui Releasing Blood Orange Lorenzini DIPA Cans & Liquid Breadfruit Ale Bottles

imageFrom Maui Brewing:

This month, Maui Brewing Co. delivers two "new" beers, both of which have been fan favorites in prior years. Offered for a limited time only in markets where Maui Brewing Co. craft beer can be found, you'll want to get them while you can!

Blood Orange Lorenzini DIPA

Back by popular demand, Maui Brewing Company is re-releasing Lorenzini Double IPA for a limited time only. The name, with a slight change from the original 2015 release, comes from the sharks "Ampullae of Lorenzini", the shark's electro sensory organ used to detect changes in electric fields. This American Double IPA is brewed with local citrus and blood orange juice. The unique hop profile lend heavy citrus and hop aromas, and a big hop flavor balanced with the fruity goodness of blood oranges. At 8.0% ABV and 78 IBUs, this a deceptively drinkable Double IPA.

"There is no need to have a sixth sense to enjoy this fan favorite beer. We've brewed a very limited batch of this juicy DIPA to help beat the summer heat. Hunt it down quickly before others do," said Brewing Supervisor, Matt Ponichtera.

Blood Orange Lorenzini Double IPA will be available in the Kihei Tasting Room and the Lahaina Brewpub beginning September 1st. To celebrate the launch, both locationswill offer a one day only special IPA flight including Blood Orange Lorenzini DIPA, Double Overhead DIPA, Slippah SIPA and Mosaic Mo'Betta IPA.

Blood Orange Lorenzini Double IPA will be available in 4-pack cans and draft in markets carrying Maui Brewing Co.

Liquid Breadfruit Ale

For centuries, beer has been called liquid bread.

Now from 4,873 miles apart, Maui Brewing Co. partners with Dogfish Head Craft Brewery on the arrival of "Liquid Breadfruit"; brewed with toasted papaya seeds to give mild bitterness, and notes of pink peppercorn and 'Ulu (breadfruit) to lend rich tropical fruit character with hints of fresh baked bread.

"Maui is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world. The sights, the sounds, the scents, & the people make it like no place on earth. Dogfish Head is proud of our collaboration with Maui Brewing Co. on Liquid Breadfruit. Our use of indigenous breadfruit, toasted papaya seeds and an experimental hops come together in a tropical triangle that makes this beer like nothing else on earth. As enticing and memorable as the island itself."

- Sam Calagione, President & Founder, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Liquid Breadfruit Imperial Golden Ale will be available in the Kihei Tasting Room beginning September 16th. It will be available in One Pint 9.4 fluid ounce

(25.4 fl.oz.) glass bottles in our local Hawaii market for a limited time.

21st Amendment Marooned On Hog Island Returns

imageFrom 21st Amendment:

SAN LEANDRO, CA (1 Sept. 2016) – When the world is your oyster, life on an English galleon is no place for weary deck swabs. Legend has it that centuries ago, two such men abandoned Sir Francis Drake’s ship off the coast of Marin county and bobbed to shore clinging to a few casks of the captain’s finest ale. Washing up on a tiny island in Tomales Bay, they encountered a pair of local oyster farmers. Marooned together, these beer mutineers and oyster mercenaries shared a few pearls of wisdom and created a rare and legendary beer that they called, simply, Oyster Stout.

While the story may not be 100% true, the tale spun around 21st Amendment Brewery’s reborn oyster stout, Marooned on Hog Island, speaks volumes in regards to the innovation and quality craft created by co-founders Shaun O’Sullivan and Nico Freccia.

“More than just a fun tale of a like-minded collaboration, this oyster stout is also deep rooted as a traditional style produced in England, where oysters are plentiful and there is not shortage of stout on that island nation. Marooned on Hog Island is our new world interpretation, created with our neighbors at Hog Island Oyster Company just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Tomales Bay, and it is nothing short of spectacular,” said Freccia.

The rich, midnight-colored dark stout has an ABV of 7.9% and is brewed with Magnum and Willamette hops and several types of malts including Crystal, Carafa, Chocolate and rolled oats. The special ingredient is the 200 pounds of Sweetwater oyster shells brewed in each batch, which comes from Hog Island Oyster Company, one of the nation’s leading producers of sustainable shellfish. The salinity in the brine and the calcium of the shells are necessary ingredients in the brewing process and deliver a silky, slightly salty enhancement that complements the sweet caramel, chocolate and roasted coffee notes.

“We’ve been making oyster stout with Hog Island oysters at our San Francisco brewery since we first opened in 2000,” said O’Sullivan. “It was really an excuse to shuck oysters and enjoy them with friends and then collect the shells and use them in the brew. When we decided to release this beer in a can and on draft we reached out to John Finger and Terry Sawyer, the founders of Hog Island Oyster Company, and they were just as excited about this project as we were. We actually named the beer after a real life event where John and his wife were literally marooned on Hog Island when their skiff became unmoored and slipped away into Tomales Bay one afternoon while they were exploring the area.”

Best enjoyed alone or alongside a plate of your favorite oysters, the beer will be shucked into 4-pack cans and available September 1 in all of 21stAmendment’s 26 distribution territories.

Available for a limited time, you can pick up a pack in CA, OR, WA, AK, ID, MN, OH, ME, NH, VT, RI, MA, NY, NJ, DC, CT, DE, MD, PA, VA, GA, FL, NV, NC, SC or IL. For up-to-date availability, events and promotions, visit

Foothills Announces 2-Year Partnership with Wake Forest University

imageFrom Foothills:

Since we were the first craft beer maker to ever open here, we’ve always kinda considered ourselves Winston-Salem’s hometown brewery.

Well now we’re joining one of our hometown teams.

We are very, very proud to announce a 2-year partnership with Wake Forest University to serve our locally made craft beer at school athletic events. The partnership commences with Wake Forest’s first home football game, vs. Tulane on Thursday September 1st (kickoff set for 7pm).

We consider this great news for all involved … starting with our co-owner Matt Masten, one of the main architects of the deal. Says Matt, “I grew up in Winston-Salem and have been a Deacon fan for as long as I can remember. I look forward to sharing a pint with fans during the season this year.”

Jamie Bartholomaus, our president and CEO, sees this as a “natural business partnership” that pairs the prestige and prominence of Wake Forest’s academics and athletics with the most award-winning brewery in North Carolina. He says “to be invited to have our products available to Wake Forest fans is an honor, and a sponsorship we look forward to maximizing to its full potential.”

This partnership is part of a bigger initiative entitled ‘Made in Winston-Salem’, an effort by the Athletic department to showcase local businesses on campus.

But wait, it gets better! In addition to availability at Demon Deacon football games at BB&T Field, Foothills beer will also be on sale at all men’s and women’s home basketball games at Lawrence Joel Coliseum. Wake Forest is also considering offering alcohol sales at David F. Couch Ballpark for baseball, and at Spry Stadium for men’s and women’s soccer matches.

At football games, Hoppyum IPA & Carolina Blonde Cream Ale will be served on all concourses. Those flagship brands, as well as selected Foothills seasonal beers, will be available in the Flow Lexus Club, luxury suites, the Moricle Society suite, the Touchdown Club, and the beer garden known as Top Hat Tavern located behind Deacon Hill.

So let’s play some football! And drink some craft beer. See you at the stadium!

Burial Beer Adding South Carolina Distribution

BrewDog Celebrates Ohio Alchohol Law w/1st Ohio Brew: The End of History

imageFrom BrewDog:

Today is a red-letter day for the Ohio beer scene – a milestone set to be written into brewery ledgers the length and breadth of the state. August 31st 2016 officially sees the lifting of the draconian legislation that previously made it illegal for breweries in Ohio to brew beer over 12% abv. From this day forward, craft beer in the state has no limits. And we are going to mark that in the only way we know.

Our first brew in BrewDog Columbus will be The End of History, for our US Equity Punks.

We couldn’t think of a better way to thank our legion of new stateside supporters whilst at the same time celebrating the freedom the tireless campaigners in Ohio’s craft beer scene have helped secure. The End of History is our iconic 55% abv Belgian-style ale brewed with nettles and juniper, so we are unleashing the full potential of our American brewkit right from the start, flipping two fingers at the defeated neo-prohibitionists at the same time.

The End of History will be released as an exclusive beer for our Equity for Punks USA shareholders who invest more than $20,000. It is a beer that pushes the limits of what brewing can do, what beer is, and sees it collide with art along the way. Every US Equity Punk will gain a selection of incredible benefits as well as acquiring an equity stake in our business; you can buy a part of BrewDog USA from just $95, hosted via the amazing new start-up platform BankRoll.

In true BrewDog fashion The End of History has torn up convention, blurred distinctions and pushed brewing to its absolute limits. An audacious blend of eccentricity, artistry and rebellion; it changes the perception of beer. The impact of The End of History is a perfect conceptual marriage between art, taxidermy and craft brewing. The bottles are at once beautiful and disturbing – they disrupt conventions and break taboos, just like the beer they hold within them. And the name? It derives from the famous work of philosopher Francis Fukuyama – implying that The End of History is to beer what democracy is to history.

We wouldn’t have a brewery without our army of Equity Punks, it’s that simple. So we figured the end of one history - the dark ages of restriction imposed on craft brewers in Ohio – was the perfect moment to resurrect our End of History, and bring it to a whole new market. We will proudly mash in for this epic beer to commemorate the passion, adventure and innovation of the American craft brewing movement that we are joining. It’s going to be quite a ride.

Stand by for more updates on Equity for Punks USA very soon; and our plans to put the people who care in control whilst ensuring our passion and integrity jump the Atlantic. Our amazing – and growing – community of American and global fans are soon to discover what a madcap whirlwind journey we have undertaken together. And it all begins when we flick the switch of our brand new Columbus brewhouse.

Got a question about investing in BrewDog? No sweat! Drop our Equity Punk Rangers a line on and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

The full PR:

COLUMBUS, OH (Aug. 31, 2016) – Irreverent Scottish brewer, BrewDog is introducing its infamous 55 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) brew, The End of History, to the U.S. market at a key moment for the craft beer industry. Ohio House Bill 37 went into effect this week, removing the 12 percent ABV limit on beers both made and sold in the state where BrewDog is establishing its U.S. brewery later this year. BrewDog is celebrating this historic limit lift in its hallmark irreverent fashion by sharing the record-breaking brew as an exclusive perk to investors that pledge $20,000 or more to its unique Equity for Punks USA crowdfunding model.

The name ‘The End of History’ derives from the famous work of philosopher Francis Fukuyama – implying that The End of History is to beer what democracy is to history. Only 12 bottles were originally produced in 2010, each coming with its own certificate and presented in a taxidermy squirrel. The bottles are at once beautiful and disturbing; disrupting conventions and breaking taboos about how beer can be packaged, just like the beer they hold within them. The impact of The End of History is a perfect conceptual marriage between art, taxidermy and craft brewing.

The blond Belgian ale is infused with nettles from the Scottish Highlands and fresh juniper berries. To achieve The End of History’s record-breaking alcohol content, BrewDog’s brewers use an extreme freezing technique whereby the beer is kept at temperatures well below freezing to separate the water from the solution. The process is then repeated dozens of times, requiring hundreds of gallons of beer to be reduced through the process to produce just enough for a handful of exclusive bottles.

Equity for Punks USA is a $50 million crowdfunding initiative, promoting community-fueled business and continuing BrewDog’s mission of shortening the distance between the people who make its beer, and the people who drink them. High-value investors will be part of an exclusive community of beer enthusiasts who will receive the latest batch of The End of History. Investors who commit $20,000 or more to the effort will have first access to a batch of BrewDog’s world-renowned and much sought-after statement release, along with a raft amount of other perks offered to all who claim a stake in the business. Aside from access to incredible limited edition beers and tours of the brewery’s two facilities in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and Columbus, Ohio, investors also receive lifetime discounts in BrewDog bars, access to an exclusive online community platform, and an invite to BrewDog’s Annual General Mayhem (AGM), a soon-to-be-legendary festival of beer, music and food.

Cofounder James Watt commented:

“As we establish milestones of our own & celebrate historic moments in Ohio’s beer industry, it seemed natural to introduce ‘The End of History’ to America. Having raised more than $1 million in the first 72 hours of our Equity for Punks USA initiative, we can see beer enthusiasts are chomping at the bit to invest in our mission’s expansion into America. This release of The End of History marks a significant milestone for our homeland away from home, and invites investors to claim a piece of brewing history for themselves.”

Those interested in owning a part of this unconventional brewery can put their money where their mouth is by investing in BrewDog’s USA business. Interested shareholders can visit to find out more, or head to to invest.

NoCoast® Beer Co. Unveils Initial Product Lineup

imageFrom NoCoast Beer:

OSKALOOSA, IA, Aug. 31, 2016  NoCoast Beer Co. announced its initial product lineup last week unveiling eight (8) offbeat, attention-grabbing can designs offering a kaleidoscope of visuals.

NoCoast doesn't brew typical beer, and that beer doesn't come in typical cans. While the NoCoast brand itself is simple and iconic, each beer can design tells a different story. These stories help to illustrate the brand's values through dynamic art and witty prose.

The Make Waves Amber Ale artwork features a giant Kraken. Yoga Poser Pale Ale uses fun, psychedelic shapes & colors in the design. Agricultured Rye Porter, which has been deemed the local favorite, is a sophisticated pig face dressed up with a mustache and monocle. Gluten Full Blonde Ale boasts the playful slogan "The Best Things in Life Aren't Free." Trend Bucker Stout features a 90s-like geometric patterned print. Low Brow Brown Ale displays an elaborate, Picasso-like design. The Brew In Town Belgian Wheat design includes the quirky slogans "The Odd Can Out" and "Follow The Leader Hosen." Take A Chill Pilsner features an appropriate tagline of "Goes Down Easy."

The brand will release further details and information about each beer on their website and social media. Visit and follow NoCoast for the latest updates:

Facebook - NoCoast Beer Co.
Twitter - @NoCoastBeerCo
Instagram - @NoCoastBeerCo

Remaining true to its forward-thinking roots, NoCoast also surprised many last week by presenting its product in cans as opposed to bottles. The 16oz cans will be sold in packs of 4. Why cans? "Industry-wide we've seen a shift in recent years from bottles to cans. Cans are actually better at keeping the beer fresher for longer," says NoCoast Head Brewer, Chuck Crabtree.

Innis & Gunn Brewing Beer With “Truth Serum” - Smoke & Mirrors

imageFrom TempleCityTribune:

Independent Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn is bringing its traditional Scottish straight-talking honesty to Americans with a bang; with the launch of the world’s first truth-telling beer. The limited edition beer, “Smoke & Mirrors,” will become more than just a metaphor for deception, as it’s brewed with a truth serum to ensure no lies will pass the drinker’s lips after the first sip.

Smoke & Mirrors has been brewed on Innis & Gunn’s home soil in Scotland, using the brewer’s innovative Oakerator™ (their own invention used to oak-age beers, similar to a coffee percolator). This particular brew includes Innis & Gunn Original and three natural ingredients, each which aid the truth-enhancing process:

– Licorice root – aside from giving the brew a unique and interesting flavor profile, studies
show that over a prolonged time, licorice helps keep mental skills sharp and improves cognitive functions. No excuses for a hazy memory.

– Mullein – commonly used during the brewing process, mullein is also a natural relaxant
that encourages open and honest behavior.

– Vine essence – this ingredient is for people who know their own minds and are certain of their ability. It helps the drinker to inspire or lead people, without force.

During a phase in which the country’s interest in the political sphere is at an all-time high, Smoke & Mirrors could not have come at a more appropriate time. Coming from Scotland, a nation that has recently faced months of political uncertainty and mistruths, the brewer can relate to the American people during the run-up to the presidential election.
