Clifton Park, NY -- Wednesday, August 24, 2016 -- In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, Shmaltz Brewing Company continues its efforts to raise funds for the Institute for Myeloma and Bone Cancer Research (IMBCR) through sales of Reunion Ale '16 -- A Beer For Hope® (8% ABV) and national benefit events. Over the next three weeks (Aug. 25 - Sept. 9), Shmaltz hosts several fundraising events across New York State, including in Brooklyn, Rochester, Penfield, and Shmaltz's Tasting Room in Clifton Park. Thursday, Aug. 25 @ Barcade Brooklyn (388 Union Ave, Brooklyn, NY, 6pm - 8pm): Shmaltz's "Keep The Pint" Fundraising Party will feature Reunion Ale '16®, Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles, Chanukah In Kentucky In July®, Bock Bock®, Hop Manna IPA®, and Slingshot American Craft Lager®. Friday, August 26 @ Shmaltz Brewing Tasting Room (6 Fairchild Square, Clifton Park, NY): "High School Reunion Fundraiser" encourages craft beer fans to bring their friends to the Tasting Room for a special summer hang to help raise funds for the IMBCR. The $25 ticket includes a 22 oz. bottle of Reunion Ale '16 ®, a flight including samples of Reunion Ale '13® and '14, a $5 donation to IMBCR, and 15% off beer to go. Myeloma is the 14th leading cause of cancer deaths, and in 2014, an estimated 24,050 new cases were discovered. Each year, Reunion Ale® is brewed in memory of Virginia MacLean, a dedicated cancer research supporter who lost her own battle with Multiple Myeloma in 2007. MacLean's wish to continue building awareness on behalf of the IMBCR is achieved through her dear friends and co-workers Alan Shapiro and Pete Slosberg's (creator of Pete's Wicked Ale™) work with Shmaltz Brewing and Terrapin Beer for the annual release of Reunion Ale®.
The brand new recipe for Reunion Ale '16® features a Complex Dark Ale with Chocolate, Cocoa Nibs, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Ginger, and Mexican Chili Pepper. Reunion Ale® is exclusively brewed at Shmaltz in Clifton Park, NY with Terrapin Brewmaster Brian "Spike" Buckowski traveling from Georgia to Upstate NY to help brew the latest collaboration. The Reunion project has raised more than $130,000 for the IMBCR. Funds can be directly donated to the IMBCR at Shmaltz & Terrapin hostedReunion® fundraising events and on www.imbcr.org.
