I’ve never been afraid to admit that there’s one and only one beer that I consider to have THE single best beer name EVER! Not beer-name-of-the-day or beer-name-of-the-week…..but THE BEST beer-name-of-all-time. This is Coronado Brewing Punk’in Drublic, and with a great name like that, you can only imagine how great the beer is inside the bottle.
Coronado Punk’in Drublic is a seasonal release I look forward to every year; and for 2016, this imperial pumpkin ale is hitting shelves already. We brought you the news, and now I’m excited to bring you the beer….or at least the sampling of the beer.
As Coronado puts it, this is a “bigger & bolder version” of a pumpkin beer and for 2016 it now returns for it’s third year. Punk’in Drublic uses real pumpkin puree (one pound per barrel of beer) as well as cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, brown sugar and honey…and at 8%-AbV and 35 IBU, this beer will surprise you, especially if you’re just expecting a regular pumpkin beer.
The beer pours a rich bronze color with lots of malt and fall spices in the nose. The flavors begin slightly sweet but they are quickly balanced out with a hoppier-than-expected hop presence and the cinnamon flavors to even everything out. I tasted a pleasant dull honey sweetness and a little brown sugar that I really liked, followed by a slightly boozy finish that evens out the flavors and complexity very nicely. All in all this is not just a really nice pumpkin beer, but a really nice beer. (period) 
This Crown Series beer will be available in 12oz 6-packs, 22oz bottles and on draft so get out there and start the fall season off right….with Coronado Brewing Punk’in Drublic. T
