Brooklyn - The Worshipful Company of Brewers Part XV: Lacto Futura

14 July 2016

imageFrom Brooklyn:

The Worshipful Company of Brewers is once again upon us. The charter of this sanctified league dictates that each member of the Brooklyn Brewery brewing team will design and create a batch of his or her own draft-only beer, to be served exclusively at the Brewery Tasting Room until the last drop has been squeezed from the taps.

Beer # 15: Lacto Futura
Style: Sour lager
ABV: 4.4%
Notes: Fruity, with strong aromas of melon and Mandarin orange, tart, solid-bodied and highly sessionable
Availability: Friday, July 15 until it’s all gone.

Brewer #15: Drew Bombard, Lab Manager and Microbiologist
Age: 28
Started at Brooklyn Brewery: May 2014
Thinking About: Lactobacillus, lunch
Favorite Drinking Spot: Wherever his three brothers can get together
Brewer’s Notes: Drew is a microbiologist by trade and has spent his career working with the yeasts and bacteria needed to make his favorite beer styles. Lacto Futura places the clean, bright lactic acidity he loves most at center stage, with plenty of dry-hopping to emphasize the fruity aromas without distracting from the tart finish of the beer. This is the perfect beer for hot, muggy summer days and nights.
