GREENSBORO, NC – In 2003, The Cannonball Half Marathon began in Greensboro, NC. One year later in 2004, Natty Greene's Brewing Co. opened it's doors in downtown Greensboro serving up handcrafted brews, including a long time favorite, Cannonball Double IPA.
Now, 13 years later, Junction 311 (the organizing agency of the Cannonball Run) and Natty Greene's have partnered up to bring the Triad Greenboro's only Full Marathon!
The Cannonball Run began in 2003. Ten years later in 2013, Junction 311 took over organization of the event from On the Mark Sports. Since 2013 participation has more than doubled. The event growth strategy continues with the addition of the (Boston Qualifying) marathon AND the partnership with Natty Greene's Brewing. Mike Clark, owner of Junction 311, said "Our vision is for Cannonball to be THE endurance event for the Triad and beyond. We are confident, with each year, Greensboro will become a destination for the running of the Cannonball Marathon, half-marathon and 5k".
"We've always made an effort to partner with companies who have similar goals and values as we do at Natty Greene's. Being a local company with a desire to make Greensboro and the Triad a destination location in North Carolina, made our partnership with Junction 311 an easy fit. As we move forward with our multi phase project at Revolution Mill to put Greensboro on the map as a brewery destination, Junction 311 is striving to do the same through The Cannonball Run," said Kayne Fisher, co-founder of Natty Greene's.
Natty Greene's first brewed Cannonball Double IPA in 2004. Over the year's the brewery has released the DIPA in bottles and on a draft but stopped annual releases of the beer in 2014. On June 21st, Natty Greene's will rerelease Cannonball Double IPA on draft for the first time in two years in celebration of their partnership with Junction 311.

*For the first time since it's creation, the Cannonball Run will include a full, Boston qualifying marathon along with a 5K and Half Marathon.
Runners can expect a beautiful, challenging course in and around Country Park and the Atlantic Yadkin Greenway. Course maps denoting spectator cheering junctions add a fun element and allow the friends and family of race participants to get into the action. All runner's receive unique finisher medals with prizes from Omega Sports, Brooks and Golds Gym going to event winners. All event attendees get to enjoy a fun, free, family festival featuring Natty Greene's Brews, live music, food trucks, activities for the youngsters, massage and more.
