Here’s your first look at an exciting new package coming from Southern Tier Brewing Co in Lakewood, NY.  This is their classic Pumking Imperial pumpkin ale, but with a new twist.  While Pumking 2015 will remain at 8.6%-AbV, the beer will now also be packaged in 12oz bottles.  Stay tuned for release details but yes I’m guessing 4-packs.

Two Roads - Roadsmary’s Baby Returns For 2015 In 12oz Cans

Adidas Teams Up With Stockholm Brewing To Make Beer-Inspired Sneakers

adidas Originals ”Brewery Pack”, a SMU pack from Sneakersnstuff, takes inspiration from the old brewery we have across the street from our store in Stockholm. Back in the 19th century, our entire block used to be a huge brewing company where you would find giant copper kettles, farmers bringing in malt and hops and of course bottles and bottles of beer.

Today there is no room for major brewing companies in the middle of the city, but we teamed up with the only brewing company that can be found in Södermalm today. Stockholm Brewing Co. was founded five years ago. A brewery that brings it back to the core by using organically grown ingredients and brewing the traditional way to enhance the flavor and character of the beer. And yes, of course we went ahead and produced our very own beer to match the adidas Originals ”Brewery Pack”.

Victory Brewing Company Debuts in Arkansas

Victory’s flavorful brews will enter the market under distribution by Arkansas Craft Distributors.  Fans can expect to see Victory debut at Foam Fest on May 9th, and Summer Love Ale available on draft beginning May 11th.  By mid June, Victory’s famed DirtWolf, Prima Pils, Golden Monkey and HopDevil will be available for purchase at retail outlets throughout the state.  Distribution of Victory’s other core brands and seasonal selections will follow shortly after the initial launch.

“We’ve had many requests to bring our beer to the Arkansas and are extremely excited we can finally oblige by offering our full-flavored beer to these fans and introducing Victory to a new audience of craft beer lovers,” said Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Steve German.

Perennial Artisanal - Savant Blanc 100% Brettanomyces Bottles

This week, the guys from the incredible Deschutes Brewery in Oregon have been in Scotland, and thankfully needed little persuasion to join forces with us on a collaboration.

Deschutes are one of the most adventurous and skilled breweries in Oregon – which is saying something – and, like us, they love dark beers (if you haven’t tried The Abyss, seek it out – it is stunning). So the collaboration beer we came up with is, in the words of the brewers who were there, a "big bad imperial porter". As yet un-named, look out for this one, it’s going to be immense.

FACTUAL ALLEGATIONS

12. Over the past 25 years, craft brewing in the United States has seen tremendous growth, with the number of craft breweries increasing from approximately 250 in 1989 to more than 3,400 in 2014. With nearly 400 craft breweries, California is home to more craft breweries than any other state. The economic impact of craft brewing in California is estimated to exceed $4.5 billion.

13. Beer consumers, including Plaintiff, are willing to pay, and do pay, a premium for high quality, small batch, craft beers. 14. The Brewers Association, an organization dedicated to promoting and protecting American craft brewers, defines craft breweries as "small, independent and traditional." To qualify as an American craft brewer, a brewery must:

(a) (b) (c) Produce less than 6 million barrels of beer annually; Be less than 25 percent owned or controlled by a non-craft brewer; and Make beer using only traditional or innovative brewing ingredients. With eight major breweries located in California, Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin, Defendant produces more than 76 million barrels, or 2.4 billion gallons, of beer on an annual basis. Based on the volume of beer it produces, as well as the ownership interests of its parent companies, Defendant clearly does not qualify as a craft brewer.

16. Defendant began producing Blue Moon beer in 1995 to compete in the burgeoning craft beer market. While Defendant was operating as Coors Brewing Company at the time, it sold Blue Moon beer under the name, Blue Moon Brewing Company.

17. Blue Moon Brewing Company is a small, limited capacity brewery located inside Coors Field, home to the Colorado Rockies baseball team. The Blue Moon beer that is sold in stores is not brewed at or by the Blue Moon Brewing Company. Rather, it is brewed by MillerCoors at the company's Golden, Colorado and Eden, North Carolina breweries. In addition to brewing Blue Moon, these breweries produce all of Defendant's other beers, including Coors, Milwaukee's Best, Miller High Life, Hamm's, Icehouse and Olde English.

18. Despite brewing Blue Moon for the past 20 years, Defendant goes to great lengths to disassociate Blue Moon beer from the MillerCoors name. MillerCoors does not appear anywhere on the Blue Moon bottle. Moreover, while Blue Moon is prominently displayed on the MillerCoors web site, there is not a single reference to MillerCoors on the Blue Moon Brewing Company web site. In this regard, Defendant gains the benefit of having a top selling beer included among its brands, while at the same time avoiding the loss of sales that would undoubtedly come with having Blue Moon branded as a macrobrew and/or a MillerCoors beer.

19. In addition to fraudulently claiming that Blue Moon is brewed by Blue Moon 4 CLASS ACTION COMPLAINT I 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 Brewing Company and intentionally omitting the MillerCoors name from Blue Moon products and advertising, Defendant also uses the registered trademark "Artfully Crafted" to falsely portray Blue Moon as a craft beer. This phrase, which appears on Defendant's web site and in print advertising, further serves to further mislead consumers by implying that Blue Moon is a true craft beer brewed by an almost entirely fictitious brewery.

20. Through its false and deceptive marketing, Defendant misleads consumers to believe that Blue Moon is an independently brewed, hand-crafted beer. While MillerCoors clearly does not constitute a craft brewer, and thus Blue Moon does not constitute a craft beer, Defendant falsely identifies it as such on the MillerCoors web site. This practice misleads consumers and allows Defendant to charge up to 50% more for Blue Moon beer than it charges for other MillerCoors products.

21. From 2011 until mid-2012, Plaintiff frequently purchased Blue Moon beer from San Diego-area retailers for personal and family consumption. Relying on its advertising, its placement among other craft beers, and the premium price it commanded, Plaintiff, who is also a beer aficionado and home brewer, purchased Blue Moon believing it was a craft beer, as the term is commonly used by beer consumers and the Brewers Association.

22. In or around July 2012, Plaintiff was informed by friends that Blue Moon is not a craft beer, but rather a mass produced beer made by MillerCoors. Plaintiff was initially skeptical, but eventually verified the facts through his own research. As a result, Plaintiff has not purchased Blue Moon since approximately July 2012.

Trinity Brewing - Magical Brett Tour # 3 Coming 5/8, Accessibility Mode 5/15 & Farmhouse Fraise 5/29

If you haven't had our single Brettanomyces anniversary series, it's time you got funky!  Magical Brettanomyces tour features an extremely rare yeast that we call B. bouckaertii.  Originally isolated from Berliner Weisse bottles from a German brewery that has been closed for over 20 years, this Brett is more intense than any yeast we've ever experienced!  Expect EXTREME barnyard, sweaty fruit, musty cellar, wet hay, soggy goat, spicy cedar, steaming manure, and soft white pepper notes from this very unique brew.  This intense and complex barrel aged beer releases on Friday May 8th.  The first Saison we're releasing next month taps on Friday May 15th, and we're calling it 'Accessibility Mode, Saison Printemps.'  Brewed with jack-fruit and grains of paradise, this recipe is refreshingly acidic with moderate peppercorn balance.  We use a unique wild ale yeast in this beer, dubbed 'Mello Colada' to contribute the essence of maraschino cherry and pineapple.  Our final release comes out on Friday May 29th, 'The Menacing Strawberry, Farmhouse Fraise.' It’s not quite summer yet, but if you have a passion for summer beers, you’re in luck: Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat Ale, now brewed with passion fruit, is now available through the end of the summer wherever Point beers are sold.



Point Brewmaster Gabe Hopkins and his team of brewers have added passion fruit juice to Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat’s brewing process, which uses unmalted white wheat and malted red wheat as well as specialty barley malts, fresh Mount Hood hops from Washington State’s Yakima Valley and Point’s own ale yeast.



Passion fruit, a climbing vine with small, round fruits that thrives in the Caribbean and South America, is a true flavor point-of-difference for the Nude Beach Summer Wheat, according to Hopkins. “The passion fruit lends a crisp but very refreshing, tart character to the beer that is especially noticeable on the back end,” he said. “The fresh tartness of the passion fruit pairs well with the natural fruity tones of an unfiltered wheat beer.”



Golden-colored Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat is available in six-packs and 12-packs of 12-ounce NR bottles, 12-packs of 12-ounce cans and on draft wherever Point’s handcrafted beers are sold.

With the new passion fruit accent, Point Brewery Manager Partner Joe Martino expects that Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat Ale will be more popular than ever this summer. Introduced just before summer 2008, Nude Beach Summer Wheat Ale was one of Point’s most successful new-product introductions.



As Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat Ale’s popularity grew so did its trophy case, which now includes eight medals. In 2013 it earned gold as the best beer in the American Wheat category in the annual United States Open Beer Championships. Nude Beach also won a gold medal in 2009 at the annual North American Beer Awards, sponsored by the North American Brewers Association, and silver medals in the 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012 World Beer Championships, sponsored by the Chicago-based Beverage Testing Institute.

Mass. Alcoholic Beverage Control Charges Craft Beer Guild LLC In Pay-To-Play Investigation

The Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission, or ABCC, said Craft Beer Guild LLC violated a state rule against offering inducements to retailers to stock its products over those of competitors and a state law that prohibits distributors from charging different prices for the same products.

These are the first charges to emerge from a six-month probe into so-called pay-to-play practices that limit consumer choices by favoring one company’s products over another’s.

imageThis morning we have two new bottles coming from Urban Legend Brewing Co in Westmont, IL.  Cold War is a Russian imperil stout (11.8%-AbV), Hasen Fuss is a Cream Ale (5.1%-AbV), Scylla’s Grasp is a Mosaic Pale Ale (5.2%-AbV, 45 IBU), The Creature is a Black IPA (8.5%-AbV, 85 IBU) & You Big Dummy is an Imperial Red Ale (8.8%-AbV, 66.5 IBU).  These are all 22oz bottles.

Heritage Brewing To Release American Expedition Cans 5/1

Heritage Brewing  is releasing American Expedition in 12oz cans with a sweepstakes that will run from May 1st to August 22nd. The beer will be available in 12-ounce cans in both 6-packs and also innovative “tear out” 12-packs. Just over One year in operation, Heritage Brewing Co. has enjoyed rapid growth through great distribution partnerships and a strong line of flagship brands. Heritage Brewing will release American Expedition on May 1st.

Carolina Bauernhaus Ales - F.R.I.P.A. Farmhouse Rye IPA, Maero, W.I.P.A. & Source Series Cherry

Here’s an interesting new big bottle coming from Carolina Bauernhaus Ales in Anderson, SC.  This is F.R.I.P.A. and it is a farmhouse rye IPA.  This beer uses American hops and locally malted barley and rye as well as native yeast and brettanomyces.  Look for F.R.I.P.A. to be packaged in 750ml bottles and the beer will come in at 6.7%-AbV and 55 IBU.   We also have Maero dry-hopped farmhouse ale (6.5%-AbV, 33 IBU), W.I.P.A. white IPA (6.8%-AbV, 60 IBU) and Source Series Cherry (4%-AbV, 5 IBU).
