Asheville City Council Approves New Belgium Brewery Plans 6-0

From the Citizen Times:

City Council approved 6-0 New Belgium Brewing’s plans for a brewery on Craven Street at 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

Council heard from area residents who said the brewery will be a major economic boost and neighbors of the project worried about truck traffic the brewery is expected to bring to Haywood Road.

But, several who raised the traffic issue did not oppose the project but simply pushed the city to continue to seek alternate routes for trucks.

And many area residents strongly encouraged approval, saying New Belgium will have a tremendous positive impact on areas along the French Broad River that have already seen an upswing in activity in recent years.
