BOULDER, CO 23 Aug 2012/mbb -- The right location? Check. The right brewer? Check. The right time? Check. One might have to call it Fate.

In the fall of 2012, Fate Brewing Company will open its 7,000 square-foot restaurant and brewery at 1600 38th Street, Suite 100 in Boulder, Colorado. The building was home to local landmark Jose Muldoon’s for over twenty years, and is currently undergoing extensive interior and exterior renovations.

“The name summed it up for me,” explained Mike Lawinski, founder of Fate Brewing Company. “Craft beer is the perfect accompaniment to life’s adventures, and is something that can bring people together from all walks of life. A meeting or a celebration over a beer often leads to great ideas – ideas that some may call fate.”

Fate will be a full-service restaurant and a full production brewery. “We will produce five core beers, as well as numerous special releases, including specialty brews, seasonal releases and partnered efforts. We will not only serve our own beer, but will appreciate others, with 30 tap lines.” explained Lawinski. The restaurant will seat around 230 guests inside and an additional 90 seats outside, with the bar offering seating for 30. In addition to pouring pints in its 400 square-foot bar with adjoining outdoor seating, the company plans to produce and distribute beer to liquor stores, restaurants and bars throughout Colorado.

“It’s time to breathe life back into this location. Our goal is to offer a memorable experience for everyone who walks through our door, whether they’re coming in for a break after a long day at the office, a meal with family and friends, a business lunch, or even a reward for a bike ride on the Boulder Creek path,” said Lawinski.

Founder Mike Lawinski has wide-ranging knowledge in the restaurant and craft beer industry. He began his restaurant career with Big Red F ten years ago, and most recently was the Operations Manager for West End Tavern and Centro Latin Kitchen on Pearl Street

Update 19 Sep 2012:

BOULDER, CO – The anticipation is over, as Owner Mike Lawinski has officially announced that Jeff Griffith will be the Head Brewer for Fate Brewing Company. Formerly Head Brewer for Golden City Brewery, Jeff brings an ideal blend of innovation and expertise to the craft beer world.

Mike Lawinski explains, “Jeff is an incredible asset to Fate, and having him in the picture helped to create the whole vision of such a dynamic concept. I have had experience working with Jeff for a couple of years, and identified him as someone special from the very beginning. The innovative product that Jeff was producing out of such a small infrastructure was nothing short of amazing. We are thrilled to introduce his five core beers this fall, and numerous special releases in the near future. He is an incredible technical brewer and brings diversity, creativity and a passion for his craft. Under his brewing leadership, I am confident that Fate Brewing Company will become a common household name in Boulder and beyond.”

Jeff joined Golden City Brewery in February of 2005, and was the driving force behind Evolution IPA, Stand Up Double IPA, Imperial Stout, Javapeño Imperial Stout and more. Jeff specializes in recipe development and has spent the past eight years producing award-winning craft brews, earning over 30 medals in multiple categories from competitions such as the North American Beer Awards. Jeff obtained his General Certificate of Brewing from London’s Institute of Brewing & Distilling, and has attended several educational forums including the MBAA Malting & Brewing Science course, Hop Union’s Hop School and Rocky Mountain Microbrewer’s Symposiums. When asked what Fate had in store for him, Jeff responded, “This is a great opportunity to take my creativity to the next level. In addition to crafting core favorites, I plan to explore a wide range of original microbrews featuring experimental ingredients, historical styles and barrel aging.”

  1. Fate will intervene and the name will have to be changed. There is another brewery about to open next month in Arizona that already has the same name registered with the TTB and has the domain name registered also.
