Congratulation to George Sabatino from Stateside in East Passyunk Philly for winning the Brewery Ommegang Philly Hop Chef Competition. Details from PhillyBurbs:
On Tuesday night, six of Philadelphia's most talented chefs faced off in Brewery Ommegang's Philly Hop Chef competition, and Stateside's George Sabatino (pictured) served up the winning dishes.
Sabatino now will represent Philly in the Grand Hop Chef cook-off at Ommegang's "Belgium Comes to Cooperstown" festival on Aug. 4.
During Tuesday's sold-out event, each chef prepared two dishes that showcased their imaginative beer and food pairing skills; the dishes were then voted on by a panel of judges and event attendees.
Sabatino was honored for his Smoked Beef Cheek Lettuce Wrap with Ommegang Abbey Dubbel BBQ sauce, watermelon rind pickle and beer boiled peanuts, and for his dessert, Three Philosophers with Head to Tail Cherries.
