Beach Brewing - Hoptopus Double IPA, Hammerhead IPA & Sea Devil

30 November 2011

Just when you thought we had worked out every cool combination of words to describe a hoppy beer, Beach Brewing (VA Beach) brings is Hoptopus Double IPA.  For those graphically-challenged, that’s an Octopus with a  Hop-cone head.  We brought you Beach Brewing’s Tiger Shark Red Ale so I’m sensing a nautical theme here.  Looks like this 8.8%ABV 108 IBU DIPA will be packaged in 22oz bottles and use 8 hop-additions (to match the 8 legs of the octopus).
And up today 12/2 is Hammerhead IPA!
And now on 12/7 Sea Devil Imperial Stout (10% ABV, 75 IBU)

Love the fact that this is made from 8 different hops to match the number of tentacles. Also, I'm not graphically-challenged, but I am fairly unobservant (oblivious, says my wife!). Thank you for pointing out the literal hop head of the "hoptopus". I wouldn't have wanted to miss that detail - very clever!
