mybeerbuzz - What's in My Belly?

Welcome to the first of a series of posts I like to call "What's in my belly?" Now I'm not sure even I want to know what's actually in my belly, but believe it or not, I've had requests. Now you may debate if I have requests at all or if someone actually would request belly-info...but it's true. Now far be it from me to review a beer, but in response to your questions....here's what's in my belly this week and I have pictures to prove it--and note the bottles ARE empty.

My belly is a frightening place, so I'll ease into is slowly. My belly-beer today is Troeg's Hopback Amber. This is a "go to" beer for me and no matter what the mood or meal, it's always a favorite. Cheers to today's mybeerbuzz.com belly-beer and

"Me Likey!"

  1. I'm not sure if I should admit this or not, but I literally JUST finished a HopBack as well before logging online!

    Eeery!

This beer is 'new' to me...I've never tried it, and after first sip I literally went out and got a case from Stockertown Beverage to split with a friend of mine. It'll be hard to chose betweein this and Sunshine Pils as my official 'lawnmower beer' of the summer.

The question is now, what to have next...I have to many to pick from!

  2. Hopback is Mrs beerbuzz's go to beer and we almost always have a case in the house. As far as your next beer I'd say Nugget nectar since it's sort ofthe Imperial version of Hopback.

  3. I actually don't have any Nugget Nectar *yet* this year. I have had some on tap (at Porters in Easton) and enjoyed the new batch.

I opted for the Green Flash Trippel...what a great beer! It's hard to describe, but I'd call this a less carbonated Merry Monks...I'll certainly need to procure some for the future :D

  4. Nice pick!

I was in Scranton last week, and Amy and I made it to Cooper's for dinner (for us) and beer (for me). They had kicked the Bullfrog, so I got a Stoudt's Smooth Hoperator, which immediately made me think of the HopBack. Hops on top, but nicely balanced and very drinkable.

  5. Ahhh...Porters in Easton. My brother lives a few minutes away...very enjoyable pub. On my last visit they were serving Weyerbacher Blasphemy in PINT glasses...wow

We'll cross paths one of these times Sam. Glad you found your way to Coopers. Smooth Hoperator is hitting many of our local bars and is very popular. I spoke to Brett Kintzer (Head Brewer @ Stoudt's) on Tuesday and he said it's selling so fast, they're actually out of it in the brewpub and are brewing a batch now to get back on-line. Apparently it is outselling last year's batch in a big way.

  6. I really like Porters...great place to go for an afternoon bite to eat and some good beers...I couldn't even begin to imagine Blasphemy in pint glasses...i'd be in heaven as it's one of my all time faves!

I hope they have Smooth Hoperator on next week up at Coopers for the meet and greet!

  7. Hoperator is on now @ Copers...we'll see if it survives that long.

The Blasphemy in pints only lasted as long as it took the bar manager to realize they were pouring it that way. We only had one, but we had come from Weyerbacher to Porters and were heading to Ship Inn after.
