Chip the Beer Guy Rock 107 - Leinenkugels Summer Shandy

It's a new day, a new show, and a new camera angle. Blurry as ever, but now we get to see even less....but wait...a disco ball too? Be still my heart. Anyway, toady's show started with a review of the Wilkes-Barre area sixer shops. It was nice to hear Chip mention some of our mybeerbuzz regulars like Purvs, Jessup Beverage and Plaza Beverage, but also talk about some of our locals like Goldsteins, Pizza Mill & Antonios. As a side note I have contacted all of our locals, so please mention mybeerbuzz the next time you're in buying beer. I'd love to get more of our local sixer shops on-line. On another note, the boys on Rock 107 asked where they can find out about sixer shops and beer tastings.....Forgive my shameless self-promotion but, CHECK HERE! Apparently the boys haven't stumbled on our fine blog yet.

Before we get to the beer of the week, a quick reminder. Monday June 30th will be a 4-hour show to celebrate the 2-year anniversary of Chip the Beer Guy on Rock 107. Special guests, multiple beer samplings....sounds like a good time.

Today's beer was Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. (All of Chip's beers are now available the day of the show @ Grotto Pizza.) Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Sunset Wheat and Berry Weiss, but Summer Shandy is a little tough for me. The history of Shandy is to mix a beer and a soda, and although Leinie's Shandy tastes more like a Lemonade/Beer mix, it's still a little bit of an odd "beer"...(and note that beer is in quotes). OK guys....this is two weeks of twist-off tops in a row...probably not a good trend.

For my favorite quote of the week I started with "Most people know what Bud tastes like", but had to go with Dave's quote that "Summer Shandy prevents scurvy."

Thanks guys...always funny....Cheers!

  1. To keep in character with the videocast I wanted to type blurry here but I don't know how to change fonts. (Why IS our videocast so blurry? It's a long story...it'll all be in the book I'll write someday.)

Just this minute discovered your blog, after a comment on mine mentioned it. Great job, love the blog, and thanks for mentioning Chip the Beer Guy and the show! I'll get a link to yours on mine and will drop by often!

(By the way, do you know Chip? I thought I detected an inadvertent clue in today's post...)

    Thanks again and cheers!

  2. Mr. Webster joins us! Welcome aboard John. You may certainly type in blurr, however I'll warn you that most of my readers (myself included) are fluent in "blur." We speak the language you may say. I always laugh when I poke fun at your blurry cam, that some of my readers may not think it's actually blurry at all.

Glad you found us. I'm relatively new to the beer blog world but I saw the need to bring together the local beer community and this seemed like a good way. I do feature live beer lists all in one location which seems to be what my readers like most. Of course I think they come for my witty prose, but I suspect they realy just visit to see if River St Ale House still has Peche Mortel in the cooler.

I've linked up to your personal blog and I do link to the podcast page in each of my Chip the Beer Guy reviews. If there's a better link, let me know and I'll add it.

Now the big question...do I know Chip? Actually no, we have not met. As long as I run into him and he's out of focus and wearing a St. Obnoxious shirt I'll know him but so far no we have not met. Please do tell me what the clue was though??

I did meet you back at the 1st Shadowbrook beer festival if that counts.

Thanks again and please do stay tuned....Cheers!

  4. Chip stopped in today at the One Guy tap room and carried out a growler that'll be part of tomorrow's anniversary show.

    Great to finally meet him!

  6. Glad to hear that Guy. I'll have to check out the show.

"OK guys....this is two weeks of twist-off tops in a row...probably not a good trend."

Oh come on, they're not that bad. Until about a year ago, Sierra Nevada used twist-offs and Founders continues to use them...:)

    Cheers,
    Jason
